After going through all the entries for my Cloud 9 giveaway, I chose @engrwvalencia’s post.
I personally loved her entry because it made me remember my journey and my #Cloud9Moment training for my first major international full marathon in Chicago. Aside from fashion, fitness is something that I’m really interested in. I wanted to step out of my comfort zone so I took it upon myself to do a 42km run and to make it a point to complete the race before the cut off time of 6.5 hours. I trained 6 months in advance and remember waking up at 3am everyday just to train all the way in UP Diliman. It was a difficult commitment to make and there were days wherein I doubted myself and questioned my intentions for joining. I had to sacrifice going to events or going to dinner with my friends because I needed to be asleep by 9pm. There were also times where I slacked off in training and gave excuses to my running coach. (I’m pms-ing, I lacked sleep, etc.etc) At one point, my coach even doubted I will be able to finish the run in less than 6 hours! I was a difficult student but I’m thankful that I had the most patient coach in the world. Lol. My boyfriend also accompanied me during training so I knew that I had to try and force myself to give my 100% energy and effort. Those 6 months were really tough but I am proud to say that I was able to finish the marathon in 5 hours and 35 minutes! It was definitely a #Cloud9Moment when I crossed the finish line. I’m hoping I can get back in the groove when it comes to running and hopefully do another world major marathon. Looking back, running is really more of a mental challenge. Your body can do anything as long as you put your mind to it. As with anything in life, you can’t accomplish anything if you don’t put in the hard work. ;)
